Tarot Journal/Previous Readings

From the notebook.

Real questions. Real pulls. And the return note — written a month later, once the story had a chance to finish. Names changed. The cards, and what happened, did not.

  • Threshold

    Feb 3, 2026

Do I take the job in a city I don't love?

Three-card — past posture / present pull / cost of yes

Eight of PentaclesThe Chariot (reversed)Ten of Wands

    First read

The work has taught her something real. The Chariot reversed says the move is force, not direction. Ten of Wands is the price — she'll arrive already tired.

    Return note

She turned it down. Six weeks later the same company opened a remote role. She took that one. The Chariot wasn't 'no' — it was 'not like this.'

  • Relationship

    Dec 18, 2025

Is he ever going to say it back?

    Five-card custom — him / her / the room between / what's blocking / what's actually true

Knight of CupsQueen of SwordsFour of CupsThe Hanged ManTwo of Swords (reversed)

    First read

He feels it — Knight of Cups isn't shy about that. She's the one holding a sword between them. Four of Cups is the offer she keeps not seeing. Two of Swords reversed is the decision already made, just not spoken.

    Return note

He said it in January. She still hasn't. The reading was about her, not him — that's usually how it goes.

  • Grief

    Oct 30, 2025

How do I sit with losing her?

Three-card — what left / what stayed / what's asking to be built

    DeathThe EmpressAce of Pentacles

    First read

Death is the door closing. The Empress is everything she gave that doesn't leave with her — the way you cook, the way you hold a child, the softness she taught. Ace of Pentacles is a small solid thing to plant now.

    Return note

She started a garden. Nothing metaphorical. Actual tomatoes. She said it was the first thing that felt like listening.

  • Career

    Aug 12, 2025

Should I keep writing or is this vanity?

Three-card — the work / the fear / the honest answer

    The StarSeven of SwordsJudgement

    First read

The Star doesn't show up for vanity projects. Seven of Swords is the internal thief telling her the work isn't real. Judgement is the call — this is a vocation, not a hobby, and she knows it.

    Return note

She finished the manuscript in June. Sold it in August. Still calls the Seven of Swords 'the little liar' when it turns up.

  • Family

    May 6, 2025

    Do I forgive my father?

Seven-card custom — root / wound / what he could give / what he couldn't / your cost / their cost / the shape of yes

Ten of Pentacles (reversed)Five of CupsKing of WandsFour of PentaclesThe MoonThe HermitTemperance

    First read

Ten of Pentacles reversed is the inheritance that didn't arrive whole. Five of Cups is her grief; Four of Pentacles is his closed hand. The Moon is what she's afraid to name. Temperance is the ending — forgiveness as a slow blend, not an event.

    Return note

She wrote him a letter and didn't send it for four months. When she did, he called. They talked for an hour. Neither of them used the word 'sorry.' Temperance was right.
